In July, when the weather is warm and the days are long, some people get to relax, go on holiday or and take work a little bit slower. But for many countryside folk, those warm, light days mean the exact opposite! From our farmers feverishly checking the weather forecast to see if they can harvest crops to horse owners rising at the crack of dawn for competitions, there’s often no rest for countryside dwellers in July. And the same was true for our founder Jo last month as she was working long hours behind the scenes to get ready for our biggest event of the year - The Game Fair!
This three-day celebration of the British countryside takes place at the end of July every year, and this year it was heading back to the iconic Blenheim Palace near Woodstock in Oxfordshire. Every Game Fair is special for us, as it represents the perfect chance to catch up with so many of our customers. But this year, Jo had a little extra work for The Game Fair, as she was getting ready to launch a gorgeous new shooting-focused collection! So, in this month’s blog, we’re sharing a roundup of our time at The Game Fair and taking a closer look at the new Highclere Shooting Coat and Halstead Gilet.
A review of this year’s Game Fair
After several years exhibiting at Ragley Hall, we were looking forward to a change and seeing how The Game Fair looked in a new location. Blenheim Palace was a stunning setting, and the weather behaved, something that was a real bonus after such a wet and cool summer. Jo set up the stand on the Wednesday before the show and it looked spectacular! The shooting collection was showcased in style at the front of the stand, alongside several new fur-trimmed wrap designs. Both went down a storm, with the stand buzzing on all three days of the show. The Rockingham Blouse was also the star piece, with lots of women wearing these elegant tops and, all the different colours flying off the shelves and the third-place women in the Best Dressed competition rocking one too!
There was an extra incentive for rural fashionistas to visit the Etton Taylor stand during the show, as we had two competitions running for visitors to be in with a chance of winning up to £500 of Etton Taylor vouchers. Huge thanks to everyone who took part, and we hope our winners enjoy spending their vouchers. After the show, Jo had just a week to recharge their batteries before she had to start planning for our next event, the Shrewsbury Flower Show. No long, lazy summer days here, just trade stands, fashion and fabulous customers!
A closer look at our new shooting collection!
We were thrilled to share two new garments with our customers at The Game Fair, the Highclere Shooting Coat and the Halstead Gilet. They are both crafted from incredibly soft leather (in tan or chocolate) and designed to deliver substance and style on the clay ground or in the field! The Halstead Gilet is perfect for shooters, with expandable cartridge pockets and reinforced shoulders but with a feminine cut and gathered waist, it also works beautifully over a ruffled blouse as a fashion accessory!
The Highclere Shooting Coat is also crafted from that same soft, supple leather with a zip and popper fastening and quilting detail on the back and shoulders. There’s a drawstring waist that you cinch in for an elegant look and zips on the cuffs for some extra style.
Both the coat and the gilet have a light padded lining so they will keep you warm as those autumnal temperatures arrive, and you can layer them up for a super stylish winter look! The gilets are available in sizes 8 to 24 and the coat in sizes 10 to 20, so why not take a closer look? Just click here to start shopping...
