As we wave goodbye to summer, we wanted to take a moment to thank all our incredible customers and followers for your continued support. If you follow us on social media or you’re a regular reader of our blog, you’ll know this year has been exceptionally hard for Jo. So, whether you’ve shopped with us in our boutique at The Deer Park, at an event or online, we’ve loved every minute of spending time with you.
But now, with the evenings drawing in and a chill creeping into the air, our thoughts have turned to autumn and everything it brings. Crisp, sharp mornings and that golden hour light before sunset, weekend walks to take in the changing colours before gathering with your friends by the fire. Sloe and damson gin-making becomes a rewarding weekend ritual, as does foraging for blackberries to bake into crumbles, preparing the garden for winter and watching the first frost sparkle on the lawn — there’s so much to love about the changing seasons!
And of course, with the arrival of autumn comes the chance step out in new season styles. It’s time to dig out warmer layers and sturdier footwear, though we must concede that this year hasn’t exactly delivered the sunshine and warm weather we usually look forward to in summer. But the forecast will only go one way - colder and damper - so here are our favourite trends for this autumn and winter. We’ve been keeping a close eye on the latest offerings from designer brands, reading fashion magazines and following the most stylish influencers on social media, so we’re confident they’ll help you nail the latest looks for autumn.
Gorgeous greens
One thing stood out from the autumn/winter 2024 runway shows from Chloé, Dries Van Noten and Ferragamo: the reigning colour was green! But it wasn’t neon or bold apple green, but rich, earthy olive and tweed tones. It’s a shade that fits right into our autumn palette and we’re over the moon because it means we can wear our favourite tweed coats and jackets and still tick the style box.
Fabulous furs
Luxurious to look at and oh-so incredibly warm to wear, fur (and its faux counterpart) is back in style. Depending on how much you want to embrace this look you can try some fur cuffs or a fur trim on a hood or wrap… or go full-bore with a fur or faux fur coat or gilet for those frosty winter mornings. We’re thrilled to see this classic material make a return on the runways, and our signature fur-trimmed wraps remain a firm favourite, not least because they’re so versatile, seeing you through cool autumn days right through to the coldest winter nights.
Ladylike tailoring
Tailored jackets with nipped-in waists and elegant suits have reclaimed their place this season. We’re big fans of beautifully cut jackets, coats, waistcoats and skirts because they’re so flattering and versatile. You can wear just one of those tailored items and pair them with something casual - think a jacket over a plain tee and some stylish jeans. Or, when you really want to look smart, you can pair two together - skirt and jacket, or jacket and waistcoat.
Practicality reigns
We know that lots of our customers live an outdoor, country life and that means their clothing needs to work for all sorts of activities. From jackets and gilets designed to allow you the freedom to shoot in them (with space for cartridges too!), to carefully chosen layers that keep you warm when you need them, we think practicality should be a key trend for the season ahead!
