As we write this blog, Christmas Day is less than seven weeks away and Jo is busy plotting what stock she wants to display at Cheltenham races during the second meeting of this latest National Hunt season. That, combined with short days and chilly nights, means we’re stepping into the most wonderful time of the year! Glittering parties, winter weddings, hunt balls, days out to enjoy top notch jump racing and the occasional wet weekend day spent shopping with the girls. And, of course, the occasional Sunday involving a brisk dog walk before reading the papers by the fire and then sitting down to a classic roast dinner… Whatever the next month or two looks like for you, we’re sharing our winter style guide so that you can look stylish and stay comfortable throughout!

How to shine after dark

We know that some people love to turn heads when they arrive at a drinks party or ball, and others prefer to blend in with style and indulge in a little people watching. Either way, we’ve got plenty of elegant pieces that are perfect for evening occasions, however much you do (or don’t) like to stand out. That includes the stunning Lola Pussybow Blouse, a loose, drapey top with a subtle sheen that will come to life in the evening! Our Faux Suede Skirt, a midi length in rust or grey, has a clever wrap style and belted waist to add curves and give a sleek silhouette. Pair it with heels, statement earrings and a lightweight cashmere sweater for Christmas drinks party perfection…

Stay warm at winter weddings

A wedding day in wintertime can be truly magical, but a chilly church or draughty reception venue means you need to think about layers. Our popular fur-trimmed cashmere and silk wraps not only help you stay snug, but they also look so elegant and luxurious. We’ve added several new colours and styles, from a country-inspired pheasant print to a classic apple green. There are also two elegant jackets from our new drop which could be just the ticket for a winter wedding outfit. The Chelsea Jacket gives seriously chic Chanel vibes with a tweedy fabric and pearl buttons, while the Zara Jacket oozes luxury. Gold buttons and a clever piping detail on the front seam really elevate this and make it perfect for wearing over a dress or blouse on the big day.

Stepping out at the races

While you still see plenty of classic tweed jackets at the races in winter - and we have some truly gorgeous British tweed to choose from - country fashion has opened up to a much more diverse style in recent years. Our collection of ruffled blouses is an evergreen choice, working beautifully with skirts or smart trousers and layering underneath a tailored jacket, bold blazer or gilet. We’ve recently unveiled a truly stunning red version of our best-selling Rockingham Shirt, which pairs perfectly with the new Chocolate Bootleg Trousers

Shopping with the girls

It’s definitely shopping season, whether you’re buying gifts to pop under the tree or treating yourself to something new… If you’re planning a day out at an outlet mall or your local high street, make sure you layer up to cope with the contrast between warm shops and the chilly outdoors. We love the Luna Coatigan from our latest collection, which elevates a jeans and long-sleeved tee or top with chic neutral tones and the stylish herringbone knit. Or, why not try the Lucy Jumper in a mood-lifting bright orange or on-trend olive green is the perfect layer under a waterproof jacket for those damper days…

Cosy weekends at home

Sometimes, a quick look at the forecast is all you need to know that the weekend will involve nothing more energetic than a dog walk! Settling in at the pub for a post-walk drink before heading home for papers, a film in front of the fire and a roast dinner is some people’s idea of heaven, and we’ve got a selection of gorgeous knitwear to ensure you’re warm and well-dressed to boot. Our personal top picks are the Nikki Funnel Neck Jumper, with clever contrasting stripe and available in two winter-ready neutrals, or the Isabelle Roll Neck in a cosy cashmere blend that you’ll be delighted to reach for on a frosty morning sometime soon.
